Sickle Cell Society

Posted on 21 March 2018

The Sickle Cell Society is the only national organisation supporting people with one of the most common genetic blood conditions in the UK.

Charity Fundraising Ltd started working with the society in 2014 at a point where the organisation had seen annual income falling year-on-year and deficits reported in the previous three years.

To date we have achieved £2,936,798 directly for the society through securing grants and winning contract tenders. We have also developed a comprehensive fundraising strategy and action plan which has helped to achieve substantial growth in individual giving and community fundraising.

When we started working with the society their income in the previous financial year was just £286,000. Working closely with the new Chief Executive since then, we have supported them to more than double their income within three years. By the end of the 2016/17 financial year, income was £607,000.

Our consultancy support has included:

  • Research, consultation and analysis of beneficiary needs
  • Grant prospect research
  • Grant and Tender Bid Writing
  • Public sector partnership prospecting
  • Developing a comprehensive Fundraising Strategy
  • Guiding development of a new website
  • Supporting implementation and monitoring of the strategy including through a quarterly fundraising working group
  • Mentoring fundraising staff on community fundraising and individual giving strategy
  • Project and Fundraising Recruitment support
  • Monitoring and evaluation framework design and mentoring

We continue to work with the society to build on and grow its essential advocacy and support for people living with Sickle Cell Disease and their families.

Cambridge Cyrenians

Posted on 24 January 2018

Founded in 1970 Cambridge Cyrenians now provides a range of accommodation, support and specialist services for homeless people. Cambridge Cyrenians provide accommodation for 68 single homeless men and women.

Set up with the aim of offering a real alternative to traditional homeless hostels, Cambridge Cyrenians offers small shared houses where residents are encouraged to take responsibility for their own lives, so as not to take away their ability to have constructive influence over their surroundings. An important feature of their houses is the input residents have in the decisions affecting their house. Many people need groups to which they belong, to which they can contribute and in which they can develop, so the emphasis is on sharing of chores and responsibilities.

Charity Fundraising Ltd has been providing fundraising support to Cambridge Cyrenians since July 2014 and we have undertaken grant funder research, bid writing and tender writing. Our Fundraising Consultants have helped Cambridge Cyrenians achieve £538,530 in grant and contract funding from a range of Grant Making Trusts and Foundations and Statutory Sources including Lloyds Bank Foundation, Henry Smith Charity, Tudor Trust and Cambridgeshire County Council.

Charity Fundraising assisted Cambridge Cyrenians in raising significant sums to enable us to maintain or expand some of our existing services, culminating in a recent tender for over £380,000, which we certainly couldn’t have done on our own. We look forward to working with the team at Charity Fundraising in the future and would happily recommend their services to others.”  – Brian Holman, Manager

Slough Crossroads

Posted on 06 November 2015

Crossroads Care Slough provides care and care-related services for people in Slough and their carers. They have been working in Slough for over 20 years and are proud of their reputation for providing high quality care to people from many different backgrounds and with differing needs.

Crossroads Care Slough found they needed to tender for a statutory service they had been delivering for many years. With little direct experience of tender writing themselves, they came to us for support. our charity tender writing consultants worked with them closely to draft and develop the tender proposal, providing:

  • Tender writing at all stages of the process
  • Mentoring and guidance on commissioning arrangements and requirements

Crossroads Care Slough’s tender was successful and they were awarded a £100,000 Framework Contract from Slough Borough Council.
