possible scam

We were recently contacted by a telephone caller, saying they were calling from South Africa and purporting to represent a charity with funds to allocate. They were offering to donate funds to us and asked for our bank account details in order to make a transfer.

We are concerned that others may be approached in the same way. Hence the purpose of this e-mail is to alert all who visit www.charity-fundraising.org.uk to the possibility of such a contact and to offer our advice, and that of the Charity Commission, that details such as bank account numbers, etc. should never be divulged unless you are absolutely sure of the authenticity of the person you are speaking to.
