Over £200,000 funding for Commonweal Housing
Consultants at Charity Fundraising Ltd worked in partnership with Commonweal Housing in a 36 day contract to achieve over £200,000 grant funding for Re-Unite South London, a programme that offers women leaving prison the accommodation and support services to enable them to regain custody of their children and rebuild their engagement with the wider community.
Graham Parker, Director of Charity Fundraising Ltd commented, “This is a terrific achievement which may become even more impressive as further results of funding applications become known. This contract was notable for the degree of close professional partnership working attained between Commonweal Housing and consultants at Charity Fundraising Ltd. The results show just how effective this can be.”
Rhys Jones Memorial Fund
In August 2007, eleven year old Everton fan, Rhys Jones, was shot and killed close to where he lived, as he was returning home from football practice. He was the innocent victim, caught in the cross fire, of local gang and gun crime in the Croxteth area of Liverpool.
The response from people across Liverpool was overwhelming and in the aftermath of the tragedy residents living on the Croxteth Park estate came together to form the Rhys Jones Memorial Fund, a charity, with the objective of raising funds to open a sport and leisure community centre in Rhys’ memory. Over £500,000 has already been secured or pledged and a total of £1,500,000 is needed to build and equip the Centre.
Graham Parker, Director of Charity Fundraising Ltd said; 'Fundraising consultants at Charity Fundraising Ltd are delighted to have been commissioned by the Rhys Jones Memorial Fund to work with them, over a twelve month period in the first instance, to help raise the balance of capital funding and associated running costs required for the Rhys Jones Community Centre. The centre will include an all weather sports facility, gymnasium and an indoor centre for arts and community activities. The community centre will also function as a learning centre and will bring together people of all ages, including opportunities for cross generational work and a range of positive activities. The centre will proudly bear the name of Rhys Jones and will be a fitting tribute to a boy who would surely have enjoyed the facilities himself.’
