Summer Newsletter

Welcome to the Summer Newsletter from Charity Fundraising Limited.

What Summer ? You may well ask!

However, the calendar moves on, even if the seasons can’t keep in step. It may seem early to think of Autumn, but that is when the largest round of grant allocations takes place. Hence, now is a good time to be submitting applications to the grant-making Trusts and Foundations that support so much of the voluntary sector. If you would like assistance with fundraising then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Training days

Our popular training courses continue, with “Finding Funding” aimed at small and start-up charities and voluntary organisations, being presented at our office in Suffolk on 26th September and in London on 10th October. Prices are incredible value-for-money at £85 and £130 respectively. These prices are fully inclusive of VAT, lunch, refreshments and all course materials.

We are delighted to be working with Ipswich CVS to deliver Finding Funding from their premises in the heart of Ipswich – date for this is 14th November, fully inclusive price will be £117.50.

For full details of the course or to reserve a place, see our website Finding Funding or contact Peter See.

Planning and Strategy

We were delighted to be awarded a contract in a competitive tender to deliver a business plan and funding strategy for Lifecraft, a mental health charity based in Cambridge. In addition to researching sources of funding, local contacts and strategic background, we successfully facilitated consultation sessions with members, staff and Trustees. We presented and discussed our findings at a meeting open to all participants and we have just delivered a comprehensive written report.

CBM Ireland

Following our great successes last year for CBM Ireland, raising over €1.5Million, we are delighted to be working on a further round of major bids to the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs for improving health services in some of the poorest countries in the world. We look forward to continued success for the charity.

Fundraising Successes

£80,000 Grant Funding achieved for Doucecroft School run by the Essex Autistic Society, contributing to a total of some £1.3Million raised for them so far.

Charity Fundraising has worked in partnership with The Essex Autistic Society over the last year to raise funds to build and equip a new Classroom at Doucecroft School for children and young people with autism. Grant applications by our fundraising consultants have secured over £80,000, with further funds raised locally by the Society. ‘Classroom Eight’ will be commissioned by September this year, and will be an excellent new facility for both pupils and staff.

Fundraising for the next project at Doucecroft School – a new minibus – is already well under way.

£30,000 Grant achieved for the Stanwick Lakes project run by Rockingham Forest Trust

Charity Fundraising Ltd has worked with Rockingham Forest Trust to raise funds to help build and equip the new Stanwick Lakes Centre, planned to open in 2009. A recent major grant application by our fundraising consultants has secured a grant of £30,000 from the Clothworkers’ Foundation. A major focus of the new Centre will be to educate, and engage visitors with the countryside, environment, wildlife and heritage of the 650 acre site at Stanwick Lakes in East Northamptonshire. This grant will help to fund education and exhibition equipment, and the fitting out of the educational play space for children and young people.

Team News

Our thanks to Pro Corda Trust who invited us to take part in a team-building day at their Leiston Abbey site. The day not only prompted some thinking about the way we operate as a team, but uncovered some remarkable musical and vocal talents! Fortunately, none of the team has decided to give up the day job for a career on the concert platform and we remain available to support our clients!

Leiston Abbey offers a range of conference facilities with catering and some accommodation. If anyone is interested in similar team-building events or using the beautiful facilities at Leiston Abbey, see http://www.leistonabbey.co.uk for more details. Please mention Charity Fundraising when you contact them.

Looking Ahead

As competition for grant funding grows ever greater, we are finding more requests to investigate other funding options. We can do this as part of our core service of funding research or by developing a funding strategy – looking at the range of funding options and where they may be applicable. To learn more about these services, please get in touch _enq@charity-fundraising.org.uk_

NCVO Approved Consultant 2007Have a good holiday, we look forward to working with you in the future,
