Charity Fundraising - Easter Newsletter 2007

The first quarter of 2007 has been particularly busy and it has been encouraging to see many former clients returning with new projects and requests for fundraising support.

It seems no time at all since we were writing a Christmas newsletter and now Easter is almost upon us. This means it’s time for the second in our series of occasional newsletters, an opportunity to let you know what has been happening and something of our exciting plans for the future.

Achievements

The first quarter of 2007 has been particularly busy and it has been encouraging to see many former fundraising clients returning with new projects and requests for fundraising support.

We welcome new clients:

  • Colville Nursery Centre - providing childcare and Early Years education in Notting Hill
  • Rowan Humberstone - supported training for adults with learning difficulties, producing art works in wood, glass and ceramics
  • House of Life - social research and promotion of healthy eating, with a particular focus on BME communities.

We are delighted to note that the total funds raised by Charity Fundraising consultants for Peldon Cottage at Essex Autistic Society has now passed £100 000. Our next fundraising milestone will be a total of £1.5 million across the entire range of their projects and we are close to achieving this target.

Youth2Youth have recently placed a new contract with us, having received over £18 000 (the equivalent of 6 months running costs) as a result of funding applications previously drafted by Charity Fundraising.

Christian Blind Mission Ireland have commissioned Charity Fundraising Ltd to draft further funding applications relating to their work in Africa. Our previous consultancy work for them, included drafting applications and achieved £1,504,416 (over £1m) for their work in Africa.

People News

We welcome back Hannah Savege as a Fundraising Officer. Hannah worked for Charity Fundraising Ltd before travelling to Africa last year to undertake volunteer work in Tanzania. We are delighted that she has returned to join the fundraising team.

Commercial Sponsorship

Ever conscious of the need to develop new services to respond to changing circumstances, we have recently undertaken research and applications for commercial sponsorship alongside our established business of grant raising from Trusts, Foundations and Government sources. Corporate sponsorship demands a different approach, one which is not widely established in the sector, and we were delighted that a feature article, written by one of our fundraising consultants, was published in the industry magazine Charity Funding Report.
You can view a copy of the article on the Charity Fundraising website. A second, related professional article on income generation has been agreed for the April issue of Charity Funding Report.
If anyone wishes to explore corporate or commercial sponsorship further, please contact Peter See, for a no obligation discussion on whether this particular fundraising service might be suitable for your organisation.

Training

Our 'Finding Funding' training days continue to offer value for money insights into the practice of applying for grants. The companion 'Grants & Beyond' course looks at sources of funds in addition to grants, the circumstances where they might be appropriate and how to go about finding them.
We have had a number of requests to repeat these training courses at a London venue and are currently actively seeking a suitable location, with a view to running a course in mid-May. If you would like to receive priority details and booking opportunities for this event, please get in touch as soon as you can.

Funding Surgeries

In a new venture for us, we will be hosting a series of fundraising and strategy surgeries at a Central London location. Clients will be offered a pre-booked, 45 minute appointment with one of our fundraising consultants to discuss the financial health of their organisation. There is a charge of £100 plus VAT for these sessions which are impartial and without any obligation. If however a client subsequently engages us for 5 or more days consultancy we will credit the cost of the session to your first invoice.

Our fundraising consultants have a range of backgrounds and experience; to match the nature of an organisation to these skills we do ask for some notice in booking these surgeries, to ensure that clients obtain the best possible value from their funding review. Please register your interest with Peter See or Graham Parker.

Fundraising surgeries are intended to be an intensive, time- and cost-effective source of funding advice and do not replace our free initial consultation with anyone seeking to engage our fundraising services.

Funding strategies

As finding funds for voluntary and not-for-profit organisations grows ever more complicated and competitive, we are delighted to assist Boards & Trustees in developing fundraising strategies to meet their funding needs over the medium to long term.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like any further information about this or any of our services. We look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Graham Parker and the Charity Fundraising team
